While we greatly appreciate donations, this event cannot function without as many volunteers as we can get. On top of helping our SHS students, you are also supporting hundreds of other high schools' students, directors, and their love of music.
This event is not just a fundraising opportunity. It also embodies the passion and dedication of all the students, directors, volunteers, and audience members that attend.
While some volunteers (Pit Crew) are able to see the band perform, other volunteers (Concessions) may miss performances depending upon the shift for which you volunteer. We encourage parents to sign up for one or two shifts that conflict with band performances so that all parents have an opportunity to see the band perform. With the exception of the SHS Showcase, volunteers are able to see the band perform during all competitions.
Non-Perishable food for band meals can be dropped off in the band room at any time. Perishable food items can be dropped off in the cafeteria in accordance with the times posted in each band meal donation sign up.
Yes! Many of our Marching Band students are very active in other extra-curricular activities as well as specialty programs such as Commonwealth Governor's School (CGS) and EPIC. It is important to coordinate with the Band Director on any conflicts. Known conflicts must be identified on the Marching Band Commitment form. The Band Director makes every effort to work with students on conflicts.
