The Tribe of Pride Marching Band is a 14-time Virginia Honor Band & an 11-time Blue Ribbon Award winner with a long history of performance excellence. Our program includes award-winning Drum Majors (student conductors), Color Guard performers, Wind Musicians, & Percussionists.
Students who participate in Marching Band at Stafford HS become part of a band community with a supportive & challenging environment. Students enhance their existing musical skills while making lifelong memories in a top-notch performing ensemble. Marching Band students develop valuable skills like work ethic, discipline & self-esteem. Upperclassmen have the opportunity to earn leadership roles through their commitment, discipline, work ethic and cooperation. Freshmen who participate in Marching Band enter their first week of school with a built-in support system of experienced friends who can help them find immediate success on our campus.
Information packets for the 2026 Marching Band will be available in mid-April. Band Camp is currently scheduled to begin 16 July 2026 for Percussion, and 20 July 2026 for the full Marching Band. Commitment forms and initial deposit information will be posted when available.
Marching Band Camp
Please read through the band camp survival guide for important info about student band camp success. A shorter supply list document is included below for ease of reference. Returning veteran musicians should bring their Dinkle band shoes to camp on Day 1 to help with uniform fitting.

Musician Shoes & Gloves
As part of our uniform, musicians (not color guard) perform in black Dinkles Glide shoes. Similarly, all WIND musicians perform in specific black gloves as part of our uniform. One pair of shoes & one pair of gloves are provided to all rookie musicians, included for “free” with your band fees. Veteran musicians can purchase new shoes for $31 and new gloves for $6/pair. We will finalize shoe & glove orders the week AFTER band camp. Veterans must submit payment for their desired replacement shoes/gloves (checks payable to Stafford Band Boosters) at the time of their order request.
VHSL Physical Form
SCPS requires that students participating in marching band complete the same VHSL physical form as sports participants. That form is available below & should be completed and submitted directly to Mr. Nicholas prior to our first trip off-campus. Apart from that form, please share any pertinent information that you feel might be beneficial to your student’s health directly with Mr. Nicholas. Students with inhalers & epipens should make certain to have those items with them at all times.
